New Photo Club ‘Season’...

As the Labour Day long weekend gets underway, it is hard to believe it is nearly 3 months since the Club last met.  Where does the time go?  I know some of us have been busy welcoming new family members and celebrating the milestones of existing kin folk.  I hope that everyone has had at least some time to feed the photographic hunger that burns within.  Summer tends to be a time when we are obligated to do other things and find it difficult to spend a lot of time making images.  But get clicking as a new Edson Photography Club season is nearly upon us.  Our first meeting...

October 2017 Outing

Well the month of October is quickly slipping by and our monthly club outing is getting closer and closer. As I recall from the October club meeting we discussed doing some Light-painting of Vintage Cars at Brian Pillage’s property. I contacted Brian about a week ago to ask if he would be interested in hosting our club again to capture some images of him and his antique Autos and he was very receptive to the idea. I suggested that, if possible, we could set up 2 separate areas with a car or truck as to avoid having too many of us gathered around 1 vehicle. I have some ideas...

Old Homestead or Barn ??

Hey Photo family,   I’m looking for a venue closeby to shoot some “country-style” portraits tomorrow evening. I’d like to use an old barn or homestead and I was hoping that someone could let me know if they know of anyone willing to let me use their property for an hour or so. I hope someone can help me find a place. Thanks !!...

Hospital Portrait Session Countdown – 1 Day...

posted on: Apr 16, 2017 | author: Julian Buchwald

GO OILERS GO Hopefully tonight’s game doesn’t go too many overtime periods so we get a good night’s sleep going into tomorrow’s ‘outing’. This is the last instalment of preparatory notes before meeting tomorrow morning between 9:30am and 9:45am in the Community room at the Continuing Care area of the Edson Hospital. The first note is on resident confidentiality and the use of the images we make tomorrow.  Each photographer retains all copyright rights to the images they make but is important to bear in mind that tomorrow’s images are being made in the healthcare environment.  This means that we may not use or distribute the images  (especially on social media) without consent from the residents.  We are still not sure what type of consents the hospital will have but the residents deserve respect for their privacy.  Participants should really not even discuss by name residents who they see...

Hospital Portrait Session Countdown – 2 days...

GO OILERS GO Hard not to feel good about last night’s hockey game but that’s not the content of this post… This one’s about some of the business aspects of the portrait shoot. We are doing this project as a way of improving our portrait skills and a community service to residents who might not otherwise have portraits made.  There is no charge to the residents for us to take their photographs.  In addition we will provide each resident with 2 – 5×7 prints at no charge.  The photographer will be responible for selecting the image and processing it ready for printing.  We will then send these to the lab as a group and the Club will pay for printing and distribute the prints to the residents.  These images will not be watermarked or logo’d but will have a label on the back indicating the photographer, copyright information and...
