New Photo Club ‘Season’

As the Labour Day long weekend gets underway, it is hard to believe it is nearly 3 months since the Club last met.  Where does the time go?  I know some of us have been busy welcoming new family members and celebrating the milestones of existing kin folk.  I hope that everyone has had at least some time to feed the photographic hunger that burns within.  Summer tends to be a time when we are obligated to do other things and find it difficult to spend a lot of time making images.  But get clicking as a new Edson Photography Club season is nearly upon us.  Our first meeting will be Monday, September 11th at 7pm in the Century 21 building.  I have officially turned the reins of the Club over to our new President – Shawn Montreuil – who will steer the ship with an extremely able crew of new and experienced executive members.  There are a couple of veteran members who are no longer club executive but will remain very active in Club activities.

Our summer project was entitled Seeing in Sixes (a term borrowed from the Lenswork group) if you recall.  This will be our theme for our image sharing on the first meeting.  The idea is to put together a group of six (no more, no less) images that form a coherent body of work.  The links between the images should be strong and the grouping of the six images should make the body of work stronger than each individual image.  Good luck and have fun with this – especially if you haven’t started already!

Also we will be selecting the themes for the monthly challenges at the meeting.  If you have any notions as to what would make an interesting monthly theme, bring them along and we will toss them in the hat with some others we have in mind.  Also if you have any ideas for outings or things we should be doing as a Club over the year, bring those along too.

Spread the word and lets have a great turnout on the 11th to get the season off on the right foot.

Julian
