October 2017 Outing

Well the month of October is quickly slipping by and our monthly club outing is getting closer and closer. As I recall from the October club meeting we discussed doing some Light-painting of Vintage Cars at Brian Pillage’s property. I contacted Brian about a week ago to ask if he would be interested in hosting our club again to capture some images of him and his antique Autos and he was very receptive to the idea. I suggested that, if possible, we could set up 2 separate areas with a car or truck as to avoid having too many of us gathered around 1 vehicle. I have some ideas on how we can “paint” some light on our...

The 7 Commandments for Great Photo Walks...

I’m not sure how many members visit the site Peta Pixel but I follow their twitter account and find myself clicking on a lot of their stories through the week. Today they posted an article that those of us taking part in the annual Scott Kelby Photo Walk might find useful: The 7 Commandments for Great Photo...

Walking The Rails

Our first Outing of the season is Sunday September 24th departing from the West End Tim Hortons parking lot and venturing down into the Coal Branch to walk a section of the abandoned train tracks and trestles to Mountain Park.  We will be leaving at 6:00am, as sunrise is at 7:23am. Prepare for cool, damp, and rugged conditions.  Sturdy foot wear is recommended, as the tracks have been reclaimed by Mother Nature in a few...

Worldwide Photowalk 2017

I haven’t yet decided the route as I was hoping we could do this at our first meeting. My ideas include: trails, Kinsmen or Centennial Park, or...

April Club “Outing” – Edson Hospital Continuing Care...

Date: Monday, April 17th, 2017 – Easter Monday. Time: Portrait sessions to begin at 10:30am and go until about 3:00pm. Photographers should be earlier than this to facilitate setup. Location: Edson Hospital Continuing Care Facility. During this outing we will be making photographs of the residents in the Continuing Care facility at the Edson Hospital. There are four distinct “Homes” at the hospital housing residents with different levels of care needs. The idea behind this outing is to challenge photographers with potentially interesting portrait subjects while at the same time providing the residents with an activity in their day and hopefully some images that are meaningful to everyone. The prospect of moving the residents to a common area...
