April Club “Outing” – Edson Hospital Continuing Care...

Date: Monday, April 17th, 2017 – Easter Monday. Time: Portrait sessions to begin at 10:30am and go until about 3:00pm. Photographers should be earlier than this to facilitate setup. Location: Edson Hospital Continuing Care Facility. During this outing we will be making photographs of the residents in the Continuing Care facility at the Edson Hospital. There are four distinct “Homes” at the hospital housing residents with different levels of care needs. The idea behind this outing is to challenge photographers with potentially interesting portrait subjects while at the same time providing the residents with an activity in their day and hopefully some images that are meaningful to everyone. Hospital Portrait Session Countdown – 1 Day...

GO OILERS GO Hopefully tonight’s game doesn’t go too many overtime periods so we get a good night’s sleep going into tomorrow’s ‘outing’. This is the last instalment of preparatory notes before meeting tomorrow morning between 9:30am and 9:45am in the Community room at the Continuing Care area of the Edson Hospital. The first note is on resident confidentiality and the use of the images we make tomorrow.  Each photographer retains all copyright rights to the images they make but is important to bear in mind that tomorrow’s images are being made in the healthcare environment.  This means that we may not use or distribute the images  (especially on social media) without consent from the residents.  We are...

Hospital Portrait Session Countdown – 2 days...

GO OILERS GO Hard not to feel good about last night’s hockey game but that’s not the content of this post… This one’s about some of the business aspects of the portrait shoot. We are doing this project as a way of improving our portrait skills and a community service to residents who might not otherwise have portraits made.  There is no charge to the residents for us to take their photographs.  In addition we will provide each resident with 2 – 5×7 prints at no charge.  The photographer will be responible for selecting the image and processing it ready for printing.  We will then send these to the lab as a group and the Club will pay...

Hospital Portrait Session Countdown – 3 Days...

Happy Easter to one and all.  Gotta love the snow and springtime in Alberta.  This is an update for Monday’s Portrait Sessions and the hospital for everyone.  I hope to add a couple of posts tomorrow and Sunday to keep providing information for everyone.  Why such a big deal about this outing?  Simply because it is about more than us as individuals.  We are involving a good number of other folks in this project and I think it is important that things go well.  So, for today’s information… We will be meeting in the Community Room at the hospital between 9:30 and 9:45 on Monday morning to organize ourselves to begin photographing at 10:30.  This room will be...

April Meeting Reminder

posted on: Apr 2, 2017 | author: Julian Buchwald

Greetings Shutterbugs, As the headline states, this is a reminder of our monthly meeting tomorrow, April 3rd at 7pm upstairs in the Century 21 building at 7pm.  If you have images to share that you are bringing on a memory stick, please come earlier to give me time to download them onto my laptop.  I should be there about 6:30pm.  I am not going to print agendas and minutes for tomorrow – I never know how many people are going to be there – so you can access them on the website here: March 2017 Minutes April 2017 Agenda You can print, download to electronic device or simply ignore as you like. One of the items on the agenda is the Club book project that we have discussed at the last couple of meetings.  In preparation for this item I would recommend that everyone who is not familiar with...

The idea behind this outing is to challenge photographers with potentially interesting portrait subjects while at the same time providing the residents with an activity in their day and hopefully some images that are meaningful to everyone. The prospect of moving the residents to a common area for this project poses some logistical problems so we will be working in each of the four homes individually. It would be best to work in teams of two photographers (three...
